About Eric Batchler
Eric Batchler is the author of the Capacity book series, host of the Unlocked and Sane Enough podcasts, and a Certified Mental Performance Coach who helps athletes, coaches, and parents build the mental capacity to perform under pressure. Across his books, his conversations, and his one-on-one coaching, the message stays the same: performance depends less on raw talent and more on protecting your focus, composure, and confidence when it matters most.
Eric, the Author
Eric is the author of the Capacity series — a growing library of books and companion workbooks built around a simple idea: mental performance isn’t fixed, it’s more like a container that gets filled or drained by stress, fatigue, doubt, and pressure. Book One lays out the core Capacity framework, including the ARR sequence (Anchor, Reframe, Reset), for athletes and families. Book Two introduces the ACCESS framework for coaches and program directors, paired with a companion workbook that turns it into ready-to-use tools. Books Three and Four are on the way, alongside Oh-No Tito, a kids’ book that brings the same ideas to younger readers.
Eric, the Podcaster
Eric brings the same ideas to audio through two podcasts. Unlocked digs into the mindset and mental performance side of competition, while Sane Enough takes a more personal, conversational look at staying grounded under pressure. He’s also behind CCS Stories, sharing the voices and experiences of the athletes, coaches, and programs he works with.
Eric, the Coach
Eric’s path to becoming a mental performance coach wasn’t a straight line. He spent years as a sports talk radio host on AM 630 ESPN, learning to think fast, communicate clearly, and read people under the pressure of live broadcast. From there, he moved into industrial safety training, leading programs where a lapse in focus had real consequences — teaching him firsthand how much performance depends on managing attention, stress, and fatigue in the moment. Those two worlds ended up shaping the same core insight: performance isn’t just about skill or effort, it’s about capacity — the ability to stay clear-headed and effective when pressure is highest. Today Eric is a Certified Mental Performance Coach and NLP Master Practitioner, with a B.S. in Environmental Science, who works directly with athletes, coaches, and programs to build that capacity.
“As a player, coach, scout, and agent at all levels of baseball, ‘Capacity’ is a must-read for players looking to advance to the next level of their game. For coaches and parents, ‘Capacity’ gives you a tool to understand and enhance your players’ mental knowledge of any sport they play, helping them reach the next goal when they seem to have hit a dead end, and their performance has stalled. ‘Capacity’ is the total package for your mental advancement, not just in sports but in life.” -Coach Jim Hayes
