Author. Host. Creator of Capacity.
Mental skills that help athletes, coaches, families, and individuals build focus, resilience, and confidence under pressure.
Start with Capacity
Capacity: Peak Mental Performance for Athletes is where Eric’s twenty years of coaching mental performance finally got written down. It explains the jargon coaches and players throw around every day – focus, visualize, anchor – without ever defining it, and gives you the actual tools behind those words.
Built from Capacity theory and the ACCESS protocols, the series distills the slogans and theories into a practical framework for athletes, coaches, and families who want to perform better under pressure, not just talk about it.
It’s not just for athletes—these essential skills apply in every aspect of life, whether it’s school, work, or personal relationships. Even when you’re not on the field, you still encounter pressures to succeed or simply to persevere. Understanding your capacity is key; it helps you see the gap between your potential and your ability to realize it. More importantly, it equips you with the skills and tools needed to tackle whatever may be creating that divide.
What’s holding you back?
Meet Eric Batchler
Eric Batchler has spent two decades coaching mental performance across hockey, baseball, football, MMA, and basketball – working with athletes, coaches, and the parents caught in between. He trained under Dr. Tom Hanson, author of Play Big, and holds certifications in NLP, life coaching, and mental performance training, as well as a BS in Environmental Science from Ohio University.
He’s also a father of three, which keeps the work honest.
Turn the Ideas into Practice
Reading about focus and confidence is one thing. Building it under real pressure is another. Coaching, workshops, and seminars are where the tools from the books get practiced – one-on-one with athletes, or with an entire team and coaching staff at once.
Discover Your Capacity
The free Capacity Scorecard is a short self-assessment that shows you where your focus, resilience, and confidence stand right now – and which parts of the Capacity framework will help the most. It takes a few minutes and gives you a clear starting point, whether you’re an athlete, a coach, or a parent trying to help your kid perform under pressure.

“As a player, coach, scout, and agent at all levels of baseball, ‘Capacity’ is a must-read for players looking to advance to the next level of their game. For coaches and parents, ‘Capacity’ gives you a tool to understand and enhance your players’ mental knowledge of any sport they play, helping them reach the next goal when they seem to have hit a dead end, and their performance has stalled. ‘Capacity’ is the total package for your mental advancement, not just in sports but in life.” -Coach Jim Hayes
